Masque Chapter V cover and Inktober announcement

 

No, this does not herald a new chapter completed of my old Batman fancomic, but it is the cover for it if it ever arrives. I did it in 2017, and I wanted to post it now because the watercolor depth effect with the arches in the background did work well, and because Fall has begun with a dramatic drop in temperature so I'm all in the mood for spooky Gothic things.

Along those lines, I have already started in on Inktober, which may be cheating but it was the only way if I'm going to get 'er done. I'm following the official prompts, using a fountain pen with no underlying sketching, and also confining myself to the subject areas of Religion, Paper Doll Veronika, Ace Attorney/Professor Layton, and Spooky.

I will wait til October to post any of them, however; you will find them here, my Deviantart, and Substack Notes.

Animation inspiration for my portrayal of Grainne Mhaol

 

 

Grainne Mhaol, also known as Grace O'Malley, has just shown up in Paper Doll Veronika. She was a real person, and I thought that she, like Robin Hood, was just the sort of figure suitable for sudden appearance in multiple tales of adventure.

I first learned of her through this animated video. 'Tis beautiful, but it should be criticized for implying her son Tibbot was conceived out of wedlock; this is not true.
