Seven swans a'swimming - Lady of the Lake

 

My Christmas card picture this year, an illustration for "The Little Drummer Bird" by Snowyteller, a currently-ongoing Advent serial story on Substack. The imagery of this installment I found overwhelmingly beautiful and had to draw it.

It made me very nostalgic, to be suddenly seized with an art idea that's not a paid project and stay up late to finish it, not to mention the wings and glowing blues, which featured heavily in my art a long time ago. But now I've learned better that blues glow more deeply when there's a bit of orange.

Recipients of my cards this year might think me a bit strange. I hope you're having a good Advent!
