Christmas Yet to Come

Merry Christmas! The following is a short comic I drew back in 2012. The art makes me cringe a bit now, but I still like the story, and I hope you will too.

Finding in the Temple coloring page - Joyful Mysteries

With the Finding in the Temple, I have now completed coloring pages of all Mysteries of the Rosary! You can purchase them here.

I also have a very special thing: the Non-Overlap Set for folks who already bought the Liturgical Calendar Coloring Book; it just has the pages that aren't in that!

Still getting the hang of this...

Okay, Society6 is having all kinds of different promotions as a Christmas-shopping-time gimmick; I don't fully understand what's going on, but you can still get the free shipping and five dollars off if you go to the shop through this link.

It lasts through December 14th.
Okay, I think I get it now. Throughout this week, they have certain things discounted on certain days, but you don't need special links for those. ^_^

Another hugging drawing

Over the Garden Wall is a work of extraordinary cleverness and beauty.

Another pencil sketch colored with Stabilo ink of brothers hugging, like I've done before. These are nice to do when, as now, I don't really have time to draw anything besides ongoing projects.

In the Little Shop

Society6, which hosts my print shop, is having a sale. Five dollars off everything, and free shipping worldwide. That means my prints start at ten dollars! And I'm adding phone cases and pillows and tote bags and clocks and t-shirts!

St. Andrew's Dance in the Celtic Connection

This picture, which I drew back in 2008, was just featured on the cover of The Celtic Connection, a Vancouver-based newspaper!

Looking at it now, I think I've gotten a lot better at anatomy and I would handle the lines differently, but I still quite like the coloring.

Join the party At the Ghosthouse

For All Hallows' eve, I dressed as the ghost of Henrietta Baker from a very bad movie from the eighties, Ghosthouse.

Here's the original:

Anna dressed as a scarecrow, and we carved six pumpkins between us.

Visit her blog to see them aglow!
And also snow!

Announcements- print sale and freelance unavailability

Because of the upcoming Christmas-gift-time, Society6 is having a big promotion! $5 off everything and free shipping worldwide, through Nov. 9th. So I added a bunch of pictures to my print shop there, including all these. Click here to go to my shop with the promotion in effect.

In other news, I will be unable to take on any new freelance work for a while. If you are looking for an illustrator, I recommend my sister Anna. Her work has a fairy-tale aesthetic with rich color and lighting.

Itching to Sew

I got the parts I needed to make the sewing machine I got last Christmas finally work, and I really want to get going on various projects. Hopefully I can finish up all this current work soon and do so!

But anyway, I started a sewing blog on tumblr, with an intended concentration in lolita fashion, and it's also going to be my messy tumblr where I collect a bunch of things I like via reblogging, as many people do.

The Road to Walsingham

I recently did a banner, above, and a cover image, below, for the Road to Walsingham podcasts of the various interesting lectures given at Our Lady of Walsingham Church, my old parish and the seat of the Ordinariate.

It's a bit poignant, because today I went to an Anglican Use Mass for the first time since leaving Texas, with the Society of St. Bede the Venerable. I'd missed it an awful lot.

Benjamin Franklin

An illustration I did a while ago, and mentioned another while ago, for Ink and Fairydust for a poem about Benjamin Franklin. You can see it with the poem, and read that too, here!

Ink angel

Quick brushpen angel I did for a Christmas flier I designed for the paper, and I'm also counting it for inktober, though it's pretty clear I'm not going to be getting very far with that, but that's what I expected anyway when I started so it's all good.

Leaves around here (and wasps' nests and crabapples)

It's Fall!

One of the first of the colorful leaves.

A wasps' nest. I think it was abandoned, but wasn't going to get close enough to find out.

Another garter snake. I've seen more this year than my whole life before.

These were all taken in digital with a Fujifilm Finepix s1000.

Hugs

For a while now, often at Anna's behest, I've been sketching hugs of brothers and friends and coloring them with Stabilo pen ink. It's very nice.

I'm a Newspaperperson too now!

Well I got a day job, doing design, formatting, and website-maintaining at the local newspaper, the Aitkin Independent Age. So I'll just be acting like I'm a reporter now and glomping Jimmy Olsen, yes.
